I've tried the other sandwich chains and really, they don't come close. I was skeptical when someone suggested that I try Jersey Mike's, but since our office brings in their food once in a while, I decided to give it a try. For me, the litmus test for any sub claiming to be "Joisey-styled" is an Italian. From the meats, to the oil and vinegar dressing, to the consistency of the bread, only very few subs can claim a east coast heritage. I'm happy to say that Jersey Mike's Subs is very, very close. I ordered a 5 1/4 inch Italian, which includes provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni plus all the fixins - lettuce, tomato and onion - on a submarine roll. the first time I ordered, I forgot to get it "Mike's way" - with oil and vinegar. If a sub claims to be "like Jersey" then in my opinion, these ingredients should not be optional. So I made sure to specify "Mike's way" the second time around and I was not disappointed.
