He grew up going to the store regularly and having many model trains. I was new to this whole “train” thing, but ever since my first visit to the Train Shack, I truly enjoy setting up my train layouts, running different engines, and decorating with accessories. I left with a wonderful Christmas train set the very first time I visited the store. The staff are wonderful! Not only competent and helpful, they are also very friendly, genuine, personable, and caring - they feel like our family! I’ve been to the store so many time, but I still find new items/interesting details every time I visit. The staff remember what I have in my train layout and their recommendations are catered to my budget, scale, and train set - always recommend the perfect piece which makes my layout even more realistic. Train Shack is a great place for both professional train enthusiast and novice train lovers, as well as perfect for families with kids! While they have a nice setting with good parking and a decent inventory I have had several time when I felt like they didn't want to deal with me. Last time I was there I walked in got looked at by two staff members, I think one might have been the owner and didn't get any type of acknowledgement. After walking back and forth for about 5 minutes I finally asked for help. Wow, what an experience. All I got were one word answers to my questions and they weren't even pleasant. I spent some money they my first few visits, but I,m through being a customer and being treated like an outsider and it happens almost every time I walked in. Other review sites have good reviews on this place, but sprinkled in between you will find several saying what I just did. Rude man, just so rude. Truth is they must not need the business.
