We stayed in a suite as it was the last available and our rooms where like a time capsule from the 60's. Shag carpet, a harvest gold refrigerator, and an ashtray in every room. Great quiet location close to Carmel valley village. The only challenge was that the room smelled like cigarettes. The lady mat the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. We were welcomed by very kind and helpful girl in the office who guided us to our room which was a pleasant respite complete with a private outdoor patio, my smoking husband appreciated. Someone else's review complained about it being so "1950's", this was another thing we loved about the place. Though nestled in luscious landscaped hillside, it's just walking distance into the lovely Village for a good meal and there's a nice selection of restaurants. Great location near the village of Carmel Valley, about 20 minutes from central Carmel and the coast. The hotel and landscaping is beautiful, and from the moment we got there until the moment we left the staff and accommodations at The Blue Sky were first-rate, We had a great suite, with plenty of room for my family. The family was thrilled to have access to a beautiful pool, library, ping pong table, and more. The location was great, very close to markets, restaurants, parks, and freeways. They even brought us a morning paper! It was a charming place, a breath of fresh air, to stay in a place like this. No microwave or fridge in room but for just15 extra dollars per night you can get access to a fully loaded kitchenette! Also the lobby has some great antiques and old books and magazines. I enjoyed visiting both, but was very glad to stay at Blue Sky Lodge for its vintage, rustic charm. Very old school hotel/motel, but has a nice pool and hot tub. Very friendly family has been running it for multiple generations, and they have the true California charm. Rooms also have a private sitting area with privacy fences.
