We chose a herringbone pattern, Brazilian cherry and it is fantastic.  Furthermore, the team who installed it were quite exceptional.  Not only were they expert craftsmen, but extremely pleasant and considerate.   When the job was finished, they moved all the furniture back, first placing felt on the bottoms of every piece to keep the floor in its beautiful condition--they really thought of everything.
