> the facility it self is great. ..the supervisor is rude and unhelpful. ..ive always tjought the ymca is supposed to be a friendly healthy place to enjoy family time however if your in need of any financial assitance for ylur membership be prepared to be trwated unfairly

> I was surprised to see the bad reviews.  I have been a YMCA member since 1957 first in Hackensack, New Jersey then in Downey.  Downey has a 25 yard indoor pool (without a diving board.)  They have separate lockers for children and adults.  There is a jacuzzie in the men's locker room, along with a sauna and steamroom,  the showers have liquid soap dispensers which are kept full and there is a towel service.  There is a mini gym is the lockeroom and a tv room.  there is a complimentary Coffee Pot with powdered creamer, diet sugar and the real thing.  Attendants pass through frequently and they clean and maintain the dispolable items. The fitness center is well equipped approximately approx. 12 run-walk machines,  2 stair climbers, 6-8 reclining cycles, 12 cross traners cycles, 12 weight machines.  most of the equipment is connected electronically to a computer wihich monitors and records your performance if you get a code from the fitness coach.  The fitness Coaches are very courteous and helpfull.  There is usually a coach available at all times especially during peak hours. Based my overall experience at the YMCA this is a good one and they make a tireless effort to improve.
