I had worked with other repair shops and the Geek Squad, but decided to try a small shop near my home. The shop was not impressive: small and tucked in under an upstairs business. But the owner and service were impressive. The owner has a fixed price for diagnosis and service, barring extraordinary complication. He kept the computer, tested the hard drive and determined it had crashed. However, he was able to save all my documents and data. I bought a replacement hard drive. I also had problems with memory, so he told me to buy a memory card. The shop does not stock parts, and that contributes to the savings on service. He cleared out the virus, before restoring my data and software, and upgraded my RAM: all for his fixed price of $60! When a few problems appeared in the weeks after, he cleaned those up with no extra charge under his service warranty. I left my ipod there so they can fixed the cracked screen. They said it will be ready by tomorrow but they called me a few hours latter telling me it will take two days. Beside that I have no complains.
