They charge outrageous rents for old, small houses. They charge late fees of $150 per month even though only a small portion of the rent is late and even if it is only 2 or 3 days late. Although they cannot charge such high late fees because they are penalties that are not permitted (see the California Department of Consumer Affairs' California Tenants Booklet), they do it anyway. In our case they refused to reduce four late fees totaling $600 even though we offered to pay a reasonable fee of $25 per late fee. They threatened to sue the tenants and their parents if they weren't paid the full $600 for late fees even though they had already kept over $3000 from the security deposit. We were only able to speak with Jami who claims to be Dean Brunner's daughter.  She was rude, uncooperative and unreasonable.","rating":1,"date_published":"2012-27-08"}]}
