Bill instead explained that the fridge we'd bought was built with a compressor that was too small to do the job for long, so that even if he replaced it, it would soon go out again!  So, we wound up purchasing a new & better fridge, instead of giving a job to Bill that time.  But he did other work for us, on our washing  machine from time to time.  I always made sure the work area & appliances were clean for him to work on, & he *always* appreciated that! . . .
