> I have completely lost trust in AT&T. I split off from my father’s plan over 2 years ago (he has been with AT&T since the Cingular days, with 10+ lines for his business.) I went into the corporate store location at 1112 N La Brea Ave in West Hollywood last week to add a line to my account. It was very simple - I was told that my plan would have to be changed from a single line unlimited plan to a multi-line unlimited plan. I was worried about changing the plan, so I asked repeatedly for the rep to confirm that no functionality of my phone would change, and that I would have the same unlimited plan. I was promised that everything would be the same, I would just have the additional line access fee for the new line.I was traveling for business a few days later and needed to tether to my phone from my laptop to send a few emails. I could not find the hotspot settings in my phone! Assuming this was an error, I called AT&T. I was told that the new plan did not include a hotspot. I couldn’t believe this, as it was reiterated again and again that I was not “downgrading” my plan. I literally couldn’t believe that this was truly the case, so I texted the rep who I worked with and he blatantly lied to me and told me that “we went over the hotspot options” and I agreed to downgrade my plan. This is a typical bait-and-switch tactic and SUPER shady. I absolutely did not expect this from AT&T.So now my only option is to pay an additional $25/mo plus tax in order to upgrade my plan to the “premium” option, which includes hotspot through my phone. That would bring my total monthly cost to about $150/mo, while I can get 4 lines of unlimited with hotspot access through t-mobile for $120/mo! I’m really not happy about this. I will be returning the new phone and canceling my entire plan. I hate knowing that a company my family has trusted (and paid!) for almost 20 years is so willing to be dishonest and rip me off.
