Many tenants have filed complaints with the City of Los Angeles, current tenants have circulated petitions against the current property owners and on-site management regarding rent stabilization and its legality, poor work performed on units, and building safety/accessibility for children and the elderly.  Before the new management, the building was a historical architectural gem located in the heart of Los Angeles.  The attempt to renovate and increase market value to the building has failed at the cost of the current tenants -- the owners are now simply SLUM LORDS.","rating":1,"date_published":"2014-09-09"},{"author_name":"Karla C.","review_text":"The day my daughter moved in, one person was supposed also be moving in and walked out not coming back. As we were making the move a neighbor told us how he's had a bathroom leak for several months and nothing would be done, with water sitting on the floor. He also mentioned that there was a problem with the ceiling fan. This is supposed to be a secured apartment building. None of the locks on any of the front gates and doors lock. The day she moved in, a neighbor also shared that the lobby's furniture got stolen because of the broken locks. Back in September I mentioned this to the landlord, her response was that they are getting replaced but the locksmiths have been busy. Is there only one locksmith in L.A.? It's been almost 6 months later and they are still not fixed. My daughter's apartment is right across one of the entrances to the building and does not have a peephole. We've been requesting a peephole and the landlord says that all the doors are being replaced; again 6 months later since this conversation and doors have not been replaced. My daughter's unit has had a clog in the sink and has been complaining for weeks now. Landlord says that they are sending a plumber and no plumber has been out to fix it. When they had a clog with the toilet, water was everywhere. My daughter called the office number, the emergency number and no answer. This is the typical response when something goes wrong. The halls in the complex, look like living in the projects.","rating":1,"date_published":"2014-24-02"}]}
