The drinks were super cheap, and it was very enjoyable! The announcer was very knowledgable, and was so professional and actually had fun along with us. It is a MUST Do while your here. (I couldn't resist!) Several times we were able to view their barnacle-encrusted backs as they swam along the surface. This was so amazing, especially for my friend who for the first time got to see whales in real life! It was gloomy and a bit cold, but it was way more fun than I had originally expected. Anyway, we caught a ton of sculpin and sand dabs, as well as a lizard fish that we released back into the water because who wants to eat a lizard fish anyhow? We also saw a blue whale (well we couldn't tell what kind of whale but I'm going to say it was a blue whale ok?) a ton of dolphin and a surprising amount of sea lions. Our captain and tour guide, Dustin, and his crew were not only very accommodating, but very knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the tour. We went on the 10am tour and immediately saw a few whales at the beginning of the tour as well as dolphins and sea lions. Definitely a worthwhile excursion. After coasting out of the Newport/Balboa Harbor, it took a little time to see any sea life. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see any whales... bummer. But we did see a ton of common dolphins and cute, lazy sea lions. In all, it wasn't much, but hubby and I still enjoyed the cruise and beautiful sights. Since there isn't any narration on the boat, you definitely wanna keep your eyes open and/or just listen up for the "oooo's" and "ahhh's" when people see something out in the ocean. *Invalid Date via Direct* --- **hseth379** - 5/5 > The whales and dolphins put on quite a show for us!! Even the captain commented that he'd never seen so many whales in his 20 yrs! The dophins were jumping and we saw lots of whales of many varieties. The captain spotted whales way on the horizon and went out and found them for us. The tour lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. Food and beverages were available for purchase.
