I was shocked at what they bill my insurance for and amazed at how they get away with it since all the Doctors are so young and inexperienced often resulting in non resolution on my condition that has allready been diagnosed.  They will walk you though a chain of specialist that have no or little opinion and try and try to keep you on a tredmill.  They will try to break you so they can fix you. Good for business but bad for patients.","rating":1,"date_published":"2017-11-01"},{"author_name":"suzannemortensen","review_text":"I have never posted reviews before but the WARNING needs to go out.  I have been generally happy with my care from UCD for the past 10 years, but I have rarely been as frustrated with ANY company as I am right now.  Last year, as I always do, I set up routine physical exams for myself and my husband at the UCDavis Medical Clinic on Madison Ave.  I have been doing this for almost 10 years with no issues.  I requested, as always, ONLY the basic services that are covered by my insurance, United Health Care.  I have never had a problem before but this time they charged us over $1500 in \"lab fees\" over and above the covered basic services that were requested.  I would NEVER have approved $500 to see if our vitamin D is low...I would just buy a $6 bottle of Vitamin D and take one each morning.  The charges are ridiculous, certainly high enough for them to cover insurance specialists or at least a warning sign and a strong mention from the receptionist that tells me I have to figure out what services are covered by my insurance even with a basic physical.When I called to find out what the problem was, United Health Care indicated that due to some Obamacare changes, they didn't cover what they used to.  United Health Care indicated that they had sent out extensive software and letters and requests to all of their providers (including UCD) to inform patients of additional charges no longer covered.  UCD says they have no way of knowing, (?!?) that somehow I am supposed to know all about health insurance practices.  THESE WERE ROUTINE PHYSICALS, certainly they should be able to provide me with ONLY the requested and authorized services.  The lab slips are unreadable to the layman.  I did not authorize anything more.  Even my little 2 person dental office will provide needed direction about insurance coverage BEFORE they provide treatment.I am appalled at the lack of accountability and customer service that has been displayed by UCD \"Patient Relations\".   All they did was resend they billing to the insurance.  Insurance customer service agents there told me earlier that with proper codes, they could pay some of the charges, but UCD refuses to even try...a weak appeals process involved resending what they had already sent to the insurance company.","rating":1,"date_published":"2012-18-05"}]}
