> I have known Larry Sr and Jr for 20 years and they did all the machine work on my Mopar race car motors and my ProStreet car. Haven't had any problems at all with their work and they have always given me good advice on assembling my motors, and assisting me in buying parts. A satisfied customer, Jerry Keller Keller Racing Ramona

> I had Larry Jr do a major rebuild/hop0up on my 428 Pontiac engine. Very satisfied, The engine runs great and develops gobs pf horsepower and torque. Any issues were handled quiclky with no problem. Larry stands behind his work and I wouldn't hesitate to send him another engine when the time comes/

> Steve Berroth - I have had two motors done by Speed Specialties, 1st a 426 Hemi with Larry Sr and JR and recently a 340 motor by Larry JR, both motors came to me in perfect condition. Couldnt of ask for more - great communication - great ideas tossed back in forth overall a very satisfying experience, Now two of my friends have their motors there and are both very happy (even though they are a Ford and a Chevy) Larry is still giving them the attention and quality they derserve.

> I have had 4 Mopar small-block engines rebuilt by Speed Specialties over the years. The first 3 were when Larry Sr. was with us, the last after his passing. My experience on all of these engines, 1 a stock "freshening up" and 3 modified for street use, has been very positive. Larry Jr. has followed his dad's example of plain talk and great advice. When there's been a rare problem, Larry has backed up his work each and every time to the satisfaction of the customer. All you gotta do is talk to the man. I very rarely recommend shops of any kind to hot rod friends, but I have recommended Speed Specialties & Larry Jr. several times and will not hesitate to do so again. Bob Gough

> I brought a pontiac engine there - then one day Larry calls me up says "If I finish your engine tomorrow can you cut me a check ASAP" Well, that should have set off warning bells, but I went ahead and said yes. On startup, tons of blue smoke poured from the right exhaust for about 5 minutes, then went away - however, the motor never ran well. Despite a full rebuild, it still puffed significant blue smoke on start up. Also - the engine knocked some and the lifters wouldn't stop ticking. I had a lifter collapse with 700 miles on the motor... Found out Larry didn't know Pontiac's had a - non adjustable drivetrain. Ooops! Eventually I got sick of the problems and tore the motor back down. Had detonation damage to rod bearings showing with 4k miles. Larry had sandblasted the pistons and claimed to have "cut them for compression" - but you could still read "0.030" on the top of the pistons - given the detonation - its likely compression was too high. - Not sure pistons were cut.
