When I signed a contract with this company for our military move I made it very clear that we required certified weight tickets upon delivery or our furniture. Here we are 3 months later and still fighting with this company to get these certified weight tickets which were promised.  Being in the military, we were required to have these document and made it very clear that we needed these as soon as possible. I was promised that they would be in my mailbox by today (Wednesday June 12). After not receiving them I called customer service again only to find out that they were never sent out! Not only has this caused our family to struggle but it also cause our family to lose over $8,000 due to this companies incompetence. Whatever you do, don't trust this company they are only out to take advantage and get your money!I have already contacted my lawyer, and will be filing a lawsuit against this company for a full reimbursement of the money as well as the certified weight tickets I was promised!  Due to the breech of the contract and the fact that I have been fighting for what was rightfully promised and the fact that they have been giving me the run around for 3 months, my attorney feels that this company doe not stand a chance. I had wanted to schedule to pick it up around the same time as my household items.  They couldn't locate or schedule a truck to pick it up and I had to repeatedly follow up.  Finally I cancelled the request and had another company transport my vehicle. This cost me time and additional money. Quick and stressful for the amount of time my sister and I had  (<3 weeks) to sift and get through 7.5 yrs of belongings packed, ready for pick-up, transferred from MD to Fla then driving ourselves for 13 hrs straight with two cats to expect delivery at the new location in less than 24 hrs without any issue whatsoever. Reassuring for the things we overlooked during preparation and the way the AVL relo division movers helped make everything  work-out to protect belongings thus putting my mind at ease and be able focus on other things. These bilingual(English/Spanish) movers were very courteous and friendly, they explained the process and reassured us everything would be ok in spite of them having to deal with a tight parking space,  three flights of stairs, loads of boxes including a ~300 lb prized and adored  treadmill. They were done ahead of schedule and the delivery and remaining payment was smooth and quick, the way any transaction should be. Just a few minor things suffered a few bangs and we were able to get the treadmill up and going again. All in all the experience was rewarding. I would recommend them to anyone needing reliable and professional moving services. I expected from what I heard from my friends that they usually prolong the move and take more than a month to deliver by adding more customers' package on the way. But it didnt happen that way. They gave a 3 weeks deadline and they delivered it before that time. All items were delivered in perfect condition except for some food items which got moved here and there. All big items were neatly blanket wrapped, so no damage was seen.  The only thing I didnt like was the Long carry charge, i.e. more than 75 feet from the truck to house they charge long carry fee. I dont know why they do that. They move items in Trolley and not on their backs. In my case, they had elevator too. so what difference does it make if its 75 feet or 150 feet.  Other than this, everything else went on smooth.  The guys were nice and explained all the process and paperwork in detail from the load till unload.  I would recommend my friend to use this service.  I moved from durham, NC to san francisco and they moved it in 15 days!. That was good. I had enough time to find a new apartment and get ready to recieve the items.I initially got call from another service called MBM moving services who claimed they work with the real company American Van lines and American van lines relocation is something different and I would be on my own risk to go with them. Nothing was damaged with the exception of 2 plates which we didn't pack very well.  I would absolutely use American Van Lines for a future move.  The only thing I'd do different is work directly through American Van Lines.  We ended up going through a broker and the communication between the two wasn't great. But we did. We sorted and sold and gave away many things.  We inventoried and packed many boxes ourselves as part of the downsizing process. Moving.com responded to my need and cued AVLRD as one of three potential moving service providers.  I also contacted local providers in my home town phone book.  Three locals provided an on-site estimate and 4 others used my inventory list.  My estimator, Russell of American Van Lines, was the most diligent and thorough in developing a realistic total weight. The designated crew showed up as scheduled and was most efficient in completing the wrapping and boxing.  I was extremely pleased how Alex and his crew covered the furniture with blankets and then plastic wrap.  Delivery was delayed about 8 hours due to traffic and construction.  But several AVLRD coordinators and the driver kept us informed.  They mustered another crew somehow and six very professional movers unloaded us in two hours.  My total weight was over the estimate but I did not mind paying for services rendered.  Sure a couple things got scratched, but overall the move was professionally planned and executed.
