I prefer to buy appliances at a locally based appliance store. Martin and Harris did not disappoint.  They had the brand we decided on after web based research (Consumer Reports et al). The salesperson explained our options, we made choice and the salesman told us to measure counter height before we closed the deal. We went home, confirmed the fit, called the store and placed the order. Within 30 minutes the installer called to schedule delivery and installation. Try that at a big box store. In addition we were able to take advantage of a manufacturer rebate that wasn't available at big box stores.I am surprised to read reviews complaining about poor  service. I tried to call Home Depot but no one answered the phone in the appliance department. So I drove to Martin and Harris and spoke to Mike and Chris, who have over 40 years experience. I was undecided between a Maytag and Kitchen Aid. Chris pointed out the control panel warranty on the Kitchen Aid was 5 years, but just one year on the Maytag. That decided it for me. The dishwasher was hooked up by their installer and the old Maytag hauled away. Later research showed that the major complaint about the Maytag was the control panel burning out. Thanks to Mike and Chris, that's one less thing to worry about. And the new dishwasher is so quiet that its hard to know it on. They would get to an appliance problem within a week or so.  When the refrigerator at my house broke down I couldn't wait, so I called Martin & Harris. Fred came to the house the next day and replaced the failed sensor. I also asked him about an ongoing problem I'd had with the icemaker which my old repair company had worked on several times over the years. Fred said it needed a new part. He showed me how to swap the part and ordered it for me. We had a horrible experience with seeking repairs from another appliance vendor and decided to purchase a new refrigerator from Martin & Harris. They were awesome moving in the new one and taking out the old!When we had some issues with the ice maker six months later, we called them up and scheduled repairs.
